Dr. Mohamad Midani is a natural fibers and bio-based materials expert working at the interface of research, innovation and industrial scale-up. He has led the development of patented material platforms derived from date palm residues, including fibers and soilless growing media, with applications across textiles, composites, horticulture, and construction. His work also includes the development of natural fibers from animal byproducts, including Arabian camel hair for luxury textile applications.
Research
His research addresses bio-based materials and natural fiber development from non-traditional bioresources. His work extends to regional bioeconomy development through the mapping of bioresource landscapes across the Arab world, examining biomass availability, conversion pathways, and bioproduct markets.
