Bio

Dr. Emily Law is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management within the Wilson College of Textiles at North Carolina State University. She earned her B.S. in Fashion and Textile Management, M.S. in Textiles, and Ph.D. in Textile Technology Management from NC State’s Wilson College of Textiles.

Dr. Law teaches courses in fashion design, product development, draping, and patternmaking. Her teaching focuses on developing students’ technical skills, creative problem-solving, and professional preparation for careers in the fashion industry. Her research explores clothing psychology, with a particular emphasis on how clothing influences the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors of the person wearing it.

In addition to her teaching and research, Dr. Law serves as Manager of the Fashion Studio, where she oversees studio operations, equipment, safety, and student support while maintaining a professional learning environment for students. She coordinates the college’s annual Emerging Designers Runway Show and helps lead the planning and production of NC State Fashion Week, creating opportunities for students to showcase their work to industry professionals, alumni, and the broader community.
