Dr. Nilesh P. Ingle is an adjunct assistant professor at the Wilson College of Textiles, NC State University, with a multidisciplinary background in textiles, biomedical engineering, and data science. He began his career in India studying natural fibers, later advancing to research on barbed surgical sutures and medical devices during his Ph.D. at NC State under Dr. Martin King. During his postdoctoral work with Dr. Theresa Reineke at Virginia Tech and the University of Minnesota, Dr. Ingle investigated gene therapy applications, focusing on how therapeutic polymeric nanoparticles deliver DNA and RNA to cells.
Transitioning into data science, he applied machine learning and deep learning techniques in industries such as biodiagnostics, market research, and gaming. Returning to textiles, his current research interests include integrating AI to address challenges in manufacturing, quality optimization, and product innovation. In collaboration with Dr. Warren Jasper, he aims to develop predictive models for fabric dyeing and explore custom neural network architectures to advance textiles and biomedical applications. Beyond academia, Dr. Ingle is the creator of “learndataa,” a YouTube channel featuring over 500 educational videos in Python and data science that reflects his passion for teaching and global knowledge-sharing.
